How do you celebrate? What do you celebrate? What does celebration mean to you and what does it give you?

Episode Notes

How do you celebrate? What do you celebrate? What does celebration mean to you and what does it give you?

Celebration plays a significant part of our lives and relationships. We bring traditions from our own families, and then tie them into new ones. But combining family routines can be overwhelming. You must understand that others are bringing their own anticipations and expectations to the event and give space to share their experience as well. Open the conversation by asking - what are some of your past experiences? What do you like? This dialogue in the moment can create space as well.

Being willing to stop and say – “What is this celebration about? Why am I celebrating? Does it have to be the way it was in the past?” is huge! It’s a big awareness piece.

One of the gifts of celebration is the ease of it as well. Coming away going “Wow, that was amazing” instead of “Wow I’m glad that’s over!”. Planning ahead of time – not just the logistical stuff but what we want to feel and experience through that celebration time. It’s about communicating about it honestly and openly, both parties sharing what we want to experience. Then, putting plans in place so we’re anticipating that and experiencing it as we go.

Time is our greatest gift. Be intentional in how you celebrate! Put that into practice and be celebratory this year.
